I recently used BNSF 1418 and when I got home I dug into its past. IT was built in 1950 and rebuilt in the mid sevenies I beleive. I have tryed to find picures of it or one like it with out much luck I assome the nose was chopped at some point but it was done well. The only pictures I can find its running long hood forward (before rebuild) I just was wondering it it started out with a high short hood.

Built as GN #618, rebuilt March '75, chopped short hood, and set up control stand for short hood forward running.

Gats,
Here is a shot of one of her sisters #1401.
She was at Bemidji, MN when I took her photo.

The 1418 is still green, the added air intake ducts behind the cab are gone. It still runs good ,but throws a lot of oil out the exhaust. This one is still owned by BNSF which surprised me. I didn't think ANY class ones still used any of the old Jeeps.
The NS is even getting rid of ALL EMD's that are not atleast a DASH-2 the Jeeps are being rebuilt or sold and the SD40's are being converted to slugs.

If you go to this site, and search by diesel engines and look in the 200 series road numbers, you'll find a bunch of NP GP's that would be the equivelent of your GP7. These are all old photos, so none of the noses have been chopped. There are also a bunch of GN pics in this archive. Pic #RVN27340is a group of GN GP's....unfortunately you can't search the GN portion by specifics, and there are a lot of pages to look through....

The 1418 was originally GN 618 and was set up to run long hood forward. The 618 went to the BN in the merger and went through the CLRP during the mid 70's.

This one is still owned by BNSF which surprised me. I didn't think ANY class ones still used any of the old Jeeps. Both CP and CN have chopnose GP9s.
And BNSF even has BNSF 1685 (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=623024) I just found out today. The last highnose GP9 on a class 1.
